What is Windshield Recalibration?
Many newer vehicles come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that rely on cameras and sensors typically mounted to the windshield. These technologies support features such as:
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – Notifies you if your vehicle begins to move outside its lane.
Forward Collision Warning (FCW) – Monitors traffic ahead and alerts you to potential impacts.
Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) – Engages the brakes if a crash risk is detected.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – Automatically adjusts speed to maintain a safe following distance.
Because these components are connected to the windshield, even a slight shift during replacement can affect their alignment. If the sensors are not properly calibrated, they may provide inaccurate information — which can lead to delayed responses or improper system performance when it matters most.
